Autosport: Carlos Sainz Jr is set to replace Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari for the 2021 Formula 1 season, with an announcement expected later this week. Ricciardo being linked with a move to Mclaren?

Good signing by Ferrari if this is true. Looking forward to seeing Carlos at the sharp end.

Who will take his McLaren seat if not Vettel? The whingeing Spaniard maybe?

Rumour mill claiming Seb has turned down the Mclaren drive after being told they are 3 years away from having a front running car.

So how do we think it will go in Seb's final year at Ferrari?

1) He blows Charles away & restores confidence, pride & his driving reputation.

2) See's Charles drive off into the sunset.

3) Completely lose the plot & starts playing bumper cars?

My heart > Honestly having very much warmed to Sebastian "the man" in latter years it would be a great story if he could come out on top, the list of great drivers being beaten over a season is a long & illustrious one Senna, Prost, Lewis etc, all of those came back to avenge loss's, I'm sure Seb will be on a mission.

My head > Charles will only be better this year, I'm really looking forward to this fight, the young guns have arrived & I think Charles will do it again.

3) > *Mostly* tongue in cheek.... Tongue

I hope he goes out with a few great performances (at least equaling Charlie on points at the end of this season) and a middle finger held high, he never was one of my favourite Ferrari drivers, far from it, but he is without doubt one of life`s good guys and and I wish him well regardless of how his final days in red fare.

Well, the pressure is well and truly off now, so maybe there won't be as many mistakes from him.

Ferrari never went as far as offering Sebastian Vettel a new contract for 2021, having made its decision about his future during the off-season.

Sebastian Vettel "surprised" Ferrari didn't want him

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/53271660

Sorry Seb, everyone else saw it coming. Not sure what to make of that to be honest? Is he being misquoted or simply on a wind up? Does he really think his performances of the past 3 years have been decent enough to justify a seat in a top team?

Seb Vettel clearly not happy with the way Ferrari have positioned his exit

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/vette...n=widget-1

Reading between the lines he's basically saying "I don't need the money, I'd have driven for Ferrari for cheap (nothing) if they'd asked". It is all a bit sad really, whatever his recent performances (and I know I am highly critical of him on track) I think the way he has been treated by Ferrari off track is not very professional. Quite disrespectful IMO.

I'm feeling more and more sympathy for Seb Vettel regarding the way he's been treated recently.

Why are all the F1 content sites so inflammatory? I honestly don't think there is a single site offering good journalism and impartial reporting. They are all very, very poor, but "Planet F1" is amongst the worst. Every article seems designed to promote flame wars. They are only interested in clicks from ad revenue and care not about quality journalism.

This is a prime example

Not really fair and reported in a such a way as to generate division from it's comments contributors (some of who are seriously deranged, by the way). If you do visit this site then please, for everybody's benefit use an Ad Blocker.
