Haha, I 'member last years first time video, the looks etched on the engineers faces was horrifying.
This year, a little more jovial, well on the crowd and onlookers at least. I guess the rev increase was a good to hear.

The Ferrari engine starting still sounds like a bag of spanners in a food blender.

Horrible. Sounded like they forgot to bolt on the exhaust to me.

Not sure with the turbo mounted whether an exhaust makes all that much difference truth be told, either way since the Sassi concept was adopted and they went closer to the Merc concept the Ferrari engine has sounded rougher than a badger in a sandpaper suit. Still, it kicks out plenty of bhp. Can't wait to see the cars on the track again... but I just really want to see them driven in anger at Melbourne now. I fed up of winter.

I could not agree more. Please let the action start. Let us see those cars in action.

Anything on the outlet manifold (even an open pipe) will quieten the chaos released from the exhaust valves. Did you hear James May's Panda on the grand tour when it dumped its exhaust on the columbian backroads?
I only watched / listened to it once, but my first thoughts were that most of the noise in that video (after the inital horrible metallic startup sounds) were down to a lack of any exhaust silencing. Happy to be corrected though!
