Haas boss Gunther Steiner says its Formula 1 rivals have resorted to legal means to try to halt its charge because they cannot beat it on track.

In the wake of Renault protesting Romain Grosjean’s car after the Italian Grand Prix, Haas was stripped of the Frenchman’s sixth placed finish after the FIA ruled his floor was illegal.

But Haas is taking the matter to the FIA’s International Court of Appeal because it is adamant it did nothing wrong.
With those lost points meaning Haas moved back behind Renault in the constructors’ championship standings, Steiner is clear about why his closest competitor has acted.

Asked in a team preview if the recent controversy was a coincidence or to be expected, Steiner said: “I wouldn’t expect it, but sometimes people react this way.

“If they cannot beat you on the track, they try to beat you in court. That is what seems to be happening. You have to work hard to be envied. We’d rather work hard for it and fight even more.”

Steiner suggests that amid a close battle between teams it is inevitable that teams take political action off track.
He added:

“Sometimes, you have to do that. You take any approach in racing. Is it the right thing to do? I’ll let others determine that.”

Renault protested because they couldn't beat us, says Haas boss
"If they cannot beat you on the track, they try to beat you in court," says Steiner; Grosjean lost sixth in Italy after Renault's protest.

Haas boss Guenther Steiner claims Renault only protested against his team's car at the Italian GP because they were envious and could not win the intense midfield battle on-track.
Romain Grosjean was disqualified from sixth place at Monza after the floor on his car was ruled illegal following a complaint to the FIA from Renault, who subsequently moved back ahead of Haas in to fourth in the constructors' standings.
Renault's successful protest is being "actively appealed" by Haas, however, and Steiner has criticised their French rivals' tactics.

"I wouldn't expect it, but sometimes people react this way," said the Haas team principal.
"If they cannot beat you on the track, they try to beat you in court. That is what seems to be happening.
"You have to work hard to be envied. We'd rather work hard for it and fight even more."

What is this? Is it a global, multi-billion dollar sport... or a playground?

Whether they could beat you on the track or not is irrelevant; your car was illegal, mate, and you were given ample time to fix it and chose not to.

Are Haas a racing team or a whinging team? Last week it was the SFI take-over, now Renault. What next, the Mercedes paint job reflecting too brightly in the pit lane? Sauber mechanics' flatulence offending their nostrils?

So whats the deal with these guys? Apparently they claim quite a bit about their merchandise but its not seen, do you have to live in Sri Lanka or somewhere to appreciate their thirst quenching delights? Bit like Quatrro who remembers that random drink in the 80s lol

LL I made the same point about them in the Williams thread. Turns out they actually do make quite a few things, include Aspire energy drinks and protein drinks and supplements for body builders. The Rich Energy brand is sold to high end bars apparently for mixers.

As expected....Haas has lost its appeal against Romain Grosjean's disqualification from the Italian Grand Prix in September.

Fittipaldi named Haas' test driver for 2019.

Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of two-time world champion Emerson, will test a Formula 1 car for the first time in Abu Dhabi this month after landing a role with Haas.

Fittipaldi was in talks to test for Haas earlier this year before suffering a crash in the build-up to the Spa World Endurance Championship round that left him with a broken leg.

The Brazilian, 22, has now been confirmed as Haas's official test driver for 2019 and will begin that relationship by taking part in the opening day of the Pirelli tyre test after this year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Fittipaldi won the 2017 Formula V8 3.5 title and inked deals to race in WEC, IndyCar and Super Formula this season.
