Bravo Foggy I knew you would come in useful one day Smile

The Italian Grand Prix always throws up a unique challenge for teams, with the long flat-out straights at Monza forcing teams to think more about drag levels and trimming the downforce off than they would at other venues.

Straightline speed performance is essential, even if it means that life can be a bit tricky through the chicanes.

It sets the scene for the most outrageously low downforce rear wings you’ll see all season. In fact, for the most part, they’re designed specifically for the famed ‘temple of speed’ and instantly become obsolete after the race.

Monza does present a damn unique challenge, there was talks a few years back about removing the first chicane and taking the start finish straight right into Curva Gtande, but that would have been mental.

Removing Rettifilio would in my humble opinion destroy one of the most entertaining (and probably challenging) corners in the whole of the F1 calendar. Braking after blasting down the straight at over 200mph is awesome to watch and the overtaking seen there over the years has always been one of the highlights of the Italian GP. Thank goodness the idea to remove it was never enacted.

Gags showed me this site, it shows all the different layouts of all the tracks, this page is about Monza.

Showing how it has changed from 1922 until now, there used to be no chicane's.

Quite enjoyed looking around & seeing how the tracks have evolved over the years.

What a great website Papa. Wasn't aware of it. Thanks for sharing.

NeilP I absolutely agree with you. Monza is pretty good as it currently is.

Paps, you can't get away without some plaudits for this one. Fair play my friend, very nice find! I salute you (and gags!). Not come across this site before, but since your pointed it out I've been obsessing over this one (no idea why!) http://www.racingcircuits.info/asia/japa...5LhBegzqUk

I'm thinking we need a sticky thread for these sort of gems. Maybe "essential links", or someting line that?

Well done fella.

Thank you gentlemen but I can take no credit, though I will pass on your kind words to Gareth.
